Christina Aguilera paid tribute to Etta James today at the iconic singer’s funeral.

“She was the one that cut right through my soul. So tonight, Etta, this song is for you,” the 31-year-old artist said before belting out a version of “At Last.”

Stevie Wonder also performed “Shelter in the Rain” with a church choir at the emotional event, while Rev. Al Sharpton delivered the eulogy for James, 73, who died last week at the due to complications from leukemia.

Friday, American Idol executive producer an official offer to the Commander in Chief that he can’t refuse. Or at least he shouldn’t:

“@BarackObama we loved your vocal performance so much we’d love to invite you on to #AmericanIdol this Season for a duet with Al Green.”

Now that would be the DVR moment of the decade.

We’re gonna guess that Obama will cite scheduling conflicts and pass, but if you think about it, what better way to win over voters in an election year?

Okay, perhaps a robust economy would be a bigger ballot box boost, but you get the idea. The guy’s vocal chops are legit and deserve a wider audience.

Cate Blanchett Celebrates Louis Vuitton’s Roma Etoile

Stepping out for a glitzy Italian soiree, Cate Blanchett was all dressed up for the Maison Louis Vuitton Roma Etoile Opening Party in Rome on Friday night (January 27).

The “Curious Case of Benjamin Button” beauty worked the arrivals area alongside fellow guests such as Catherine Deneuve, Margareth Made, Kanika Kapoor, Natalia Vodianova and Tamara Falco before heading inside for cocktails and conversation.

The Maison Louis Vuitton appearance comes as Miss Blanchett and Andrew Upton have caused a bit of a debacle due to their announcement that they’re stepping down as co-artistic directors of the Sydney Theatre Company at the end of the 2013 season.

After running a column claiming that the theater company’s board of directors was unpleased with the couple’s tenure, the Sydney Theatre Company has since denied any such situation – instead issuing a statement saying, “The reality is that the board asked Cate and Andrew to stay on after their current term ends in 2013.”

The refutal of the Herald’s story added, “As they announced at the launch of the 2012 season, it was always their intention to only stay for two terms. We asked Cate and Andrew to stay on but we respect their decisions to leave in two years time to pursue other professional interests.”

Madonna Talks “M.D.N.A.” Album

She’s one of the biggest pop icons of all time, and Madonna plans to continue her reign as the queen of music as she readies the release of her latest record “M.D.N.A.”

Fans have been chomping at the bit after getting a listen of two tracks from the Material Girl’s new album,”Gimme All Your Luvin” and “Masterpiece.”

While “Gimme” features Madonna’s token upbeat tempo, Madge described “Masterpiece” as much different and “more reflective.”

Additionally, the singer explained, “I think the majority of the record is more action-packed. More high-energy.”

While no official release date has been announced, reports say the album should be available for purchase sometime in March.

Sarah Jessica Parker Takes Over for Demi Moore in Lovelace

While Demi Moore works to overcome her recent personal problems, we have an update on her professional life:

Sarah Jessica Parker has signed on Moore as Gloria Steinem in Lovelace, the upcoming biopic centered around the life of 1970s porn star Linda Lovelace. Demi dropped out of the film almost immediately after being hospitalized earlier this week.

Parker joins a cast that includes Amanda Seyfried in the title role, along Peter Sarsgaard, Adam Brody, Juno Temple and Wes Bentley.

Moore, meanwhile, is out of the hospital. Her next move is unknown, but placed on her behalf was released to the public today.
